Hump Day?

Man I hate when its so nice outside & am trapped in a big glass building for the entire day! Yesterday, I took an alternate way home along Creekford Road, across number 2 then south on caton road. Naturally I found a barn, not a perfect barn, but it had an antique tractor parked beside it to up its value:)

This morning I left the house around 5:45, as the sky was turning a whiter shade of pink,so I wanted to get a few more pictures of the rapidly thinning ice on the big lake. This picture was taken in the small park across to the entrance to Millhaven Pen.

Even the view to the West was inviting.

Hope my friends enjoy these pictures as much as I have enjoying capturing these special moments in my life. The last week or so I have been scanning old pictures again and may end up posting a few here.
Tomorrow is Thursday. I had planned on going out to see a few bands, but have changed my mind about spending a night in a crowded bar.
52 Days till May 24 weekend:)

Beautiful Long Weekend!

Highlights of my weekend so far:

My son called me yesterday morning. He has moved again to Queen Street West into a 'commercial space', whatever that means?! However, he sounds happy and healthy and employed!

I believe they are starting construction on another phase of development in our hood. This picture was taken on the bend of the water tower road, looking southeast towards the highway.

Yesterday we were out at Possum Lodge (Harly & Judy's place) and I couldn't resist taking a stroll out to the creek to take a few pics. What a surprise to see the spot I had chosen was already occupied!

and this one was taken in front of the house:

it was a full moon last night....Yeeeoooowwwww!

and a nice cold beer to end the evening:

I have actually started on a project that i have been avoiding for over 2 years. I have started scanning some of the old pictures that belonged to my mother. This task is very time consuming as well as heart wretching, as so many fond memories come pouring back from your childhood. Thus the importance of documenting these scenes from my past for my own son to have when I am gone.

Tonight we are going to Jim and Brenda's for dinner. Guess who is making dessert? ME! hahaha this should be interesting:)

I could get use to a 4 day weekend.

I have only worked three days this week & am actually looking forward to 4 days of no stress! Tomorrow I will start on the windows and do a bit of Spring Cleaning to justify the 'holiday'.
Its so great to see the sun coming up earlier and earlier every day. This morning I left early to take a few pictures of the magnificent sunrise!

Here's hoping we have some nice weather this long holiday weekend!

Welcome SPRING!

The day has finally arrived. Three months till summer....MY time of year:)

On Saturday I performed a ritual that I despise...SHOPPED with the girls!!! It is not a normal part of my weekend, however, I really needed to grab a few new articles of clothing, so I gathered some fellow females & we made a day of it.
Here is my shopping posse, hamming it up in the goodwill shop:)

Right in front of this store, in the middle of the city, was a very interesting building! It looked so out of place.

Today, we took our weekly drive and ended up at Bedford Mills. What a coincidence that this beautiful piece of history is for sale!

Its so nice to see open water again:

This was taken across the road from the mill:

I thought these tinmen in Newboro looked cold:

Another old mill, this one in Delta:

I cant remember where this barn is

or this tractor

Alright, one last picture of OPEN water:

What a beautiful week!

Spring is coming, you can feel it in the air! I love the way the sun is just coming up as I start my first lap in the pool on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. On Wednesday I was a bit early, so I took a few pictures as first light was breaking. This was taken on Amherst Drive, between the county road and Henderson recreation centre.

Tomorrow is Friday, and despite the fact that I have about 30 hrs of work to do before I leave work for the week, I cant wait till the weekend starts.
I am hoping to have a little snoop around Value Village on Saturday as I desperately need some new clothes. Sunday may be the day we take a trip up to MacDonald Corners to a lovely place called Wheelers Pancake House.
Just before dinner tonight, our neighbor Jennifer came over with an envelope that was mistakenly placed in their mail box. It had a new smart card for our satellite dish. Now that I have followed the instructions and reprogrammed the receiver, I guess I should try and figure out how this MP3 player works. Billy bought it for me on Tuesday but I haven't had the time to even play with it till now!

Monday went by in a blur

Its not my favourite day, so I was happy to see it go by quickly.

I have scanned a few more black and white pictures that I would like to post. This is one of my parents wedding at the Loyalist Inn in Bath on October 13th 1957.

In 1961 my parents bought the home that my brother and I grew up in.

My first christmas in our new house. This is my dads sister Suzie (now known as Bella)handing me my favourite toy cow!

This picture was taken in 1962 at my Aunt Dianne Clement's farm, which was located about a mile west of the village of Bath. Canada Cement Lafarge bought the property 7 years later, tore down all the buildings & built the oversized plant that stands there today. Every spring I can still spot the daffodil's and crocuses I remember planting there all those years ago. From left to right is Tracy Clement, Lynda Anne Moore, Carolee Guthrie and me.

I have a Heritage Meeting tomorrow night, so I there will be no updates tomorrow night.

Sunday Sunday

There is nothing better than taking a leisurely drive on a sunny Sunday afternoon! On our way to Napanee, we slipped down a side road called big creek street. I could resist taking this picture of a spooky abandoned house. My friend Scoobie asked me why I was posing in the window.

Horses by the fence.

And a beautiful Limestone building I would love to own. I fell in love with the colour of the door & the window trim. A true Heritage building.

I'm guessing that the local land owners are not particularity fond of the government!

that's it for today. I took 141 pictures but I do not want to bore all of you to sleep.
Ok, just one more. We went to our friend Harly and Judy's place for dinner tonight. The main course was goose. It was very tasty, in MY opinion. Just before we sat down to eat, the burner popped and Bill knew just how to fix it....He just couldn't find the duct tape:)

Tomorrow is Monday...Where the heck did the weekend go?

I love weekends!!!

We found out today that a good friend of ours bought a business in Odessa. When I heard it was in a limestone building, you know I had to take a trip over there to take a few pictures.
This is our friend Richard and Billy, shooting the breeze!

And speaking of stone...check out this beautiful barn out on Bayshore Road in Adolphstown. Damn, I want a barn so bad. And a tractor.

Im sure these kitties don't wake you up at 5:30 on a Saturday morning, like ours did today!

It was such a beautiful sunny afternoon we decided to sit out on the back deck with a few cooling beverages.

Last summer, Bill thought it would be cute to burn our initials on the step with a magnifying glass.

Can you believe that next month, we will be married 25 years???

My baby boy

Yes, the time has come to write a thread about my son Bryce. This young man was born almost 13 months to the day after we married. He is the love of my life & I just wish that he didn't live so far away. Did you know that there are no phones or computers in Toronto? That's why we only get to see Brycaroni at Christmas time!
I am sure he will shoot me if he knew I was publishing the pucker-up picture...but this is a private blog for invited guests only:)

See how young I was when this young man was born?

Here is a picture of my Mom 'fixing' Bryces hair before we posed for a family picture.

We used to go for long family walks in the woods. This picture was taken halfway up the watertower road. If this picture was taken today, the metal bar would be at thigh-level of my 6 foot tall son.

In 1990, Bryce was in our nieces wedding. What a nice family portrait this is:)

that's enough for tonight.

One more sleep till FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love black & white photographs

To me, they tell a tale of nostalgic memories, frozen in time. Every once in awhile, I start digging through all my old family pictures that my Mom had diligently salvaged over the years.

Apparently back in the early 60's it was acceptable to tie your child to a tree. This is me and my Dad in the background. Does it look like I am trying to escape?

Yes, the tree was not happy to have me attached to it:

Here is a better picture of my Dad. When I was born, we lived with my Grandmother & Grandfather Guthrie for the first year of my existence. This was taken in my Grandmothers living room.

This is my aunt Carolee (Guthrie) and I. She is my Mom's half-sister and only 11 months older than me. While we were growing up, everyone thought she was my sister. It is ironic that after her Dad passed away, my Dad built an apartment for her and my Grandmother in our basement.

One last Black and white. This is myself (holding onto the kitten), Carolee to the right and Brenda Leah MacKinnon on the left.

Did I mention that there is only 51 working days left till May 24 weekend???

My brother

He has asked me to give him away when he ties the knot in June. I might consider it if he wasn't 8 feet tall. I remember when he was a lot shorter, and so cute! Check us out in 1969!

Here is Steven in his plaids...pretending to be the great white hunter:)

My 'little' brother was 11 when I married. Can you believe he was almost taller than me?

When my brother moved away from home to go to College, he used to come home on the weekend for BBQ's. I was so pleased to witness the level of maturity the city environment was instilling in him.

Here is the big guy catching a big one in the Oshawa Creek.

This was taken last June on Stevens birthday. The picture was taken at the Steam Museum where Stevens fiancee Stephanie had a summer cafe.

Thank Gawd this is a private blog!!! Invited guests only.

Tomorrow is Wednesday...hump day! Hurry up spring.
