Even though I do not know who the people are in a few of the pictures, I cant resist capturing them. A lot of these pictures will be sent off to my few remaining family members who might be able to shed a light on where some shots were taken and who these unfamiliar faces are. Perhaps I have even more family members that have been hidden from me.
Anyways, I found all these marvelous pictures in the stash that my Mom hid away for so many years. Here is a picture of my Mom that was taken in New Brunswick before they moved to Kingston in 1949. I believe the shot captures a young girl turning her back on a place that she would prefer to forget. Can you imagine this, my Grandmother escaped a bad marriage by moving out with her four small children to make a better life for them in another province. No small feat indeed. These women I transcend from were made from very tough stock.
I believe that this is one of the oldest pictures I have of my Mother. It looks like she is around 4 or 5 years old so that mean this picture was taken in 1940 or so. I remember my Mother telling me a tale of this old house they once lived in that burned down. Everything was lost except the fireplace. I believe this is the same fireplace in the background.
This is one of my Grandmother (Gladys) with her friend Kay in New Brunswick. This picture is quite clear considering it was taken in the 1940's.
Here is one last picture of Mom, Diane, Ken and Ron before they migrated to Ontario.
When my grandmother moved to Ontario, they stayed with my Great-Grandmother Kerrigan on Raglan Road. I still don't know which house it was that they lived in, but it is ironic that my brother now lives in the same neighbourhood!
This is my Mom and her sister Dianne in 1949.
Inside a fold-out frame I discovered this gem. I think it was taken by the old Millhaven ferry dock as my Grandmother moved the family out to Millhaven around 1950.
My Mom and Dad in the early 50's on Millhaven ferry dock. I do not know who the other two people are in the picture though.
Alright, that's enough for now. Hope I didn't put anyone to sleep:)
